Many of you will know that a few weeks ago we lost a great friend, Holly, in tragic circumstances. She was loved by many and a great person to have around. You'd always feel a bit more better about things after speaking with her.

This Friday night a "Show for Holly" has been organised at the Sando with proceeds from the night going to charity (either the Lupus Foundation or Surf Life Saving). The lineup is some of her favourite bands and friends. Backy Skank, Bagster, Steppin' Razor and The New Justice Team.

With the Empire closing it's doors on original music, the the next Ska v Rockabilly gig is to be held at the Gaelic Theatre on Sat 23rd Feb with Casino Rumblers, Wes Pudsey and The Sonic Aces, Monster Go Go and Steppin Razor. Should be a great gig so please come a support the event in a new venue!

Next Gig is at the Empire Hotel on Friday 30 November.

Sat 27 Sep 07
Reggae is a big influence on the Razors and there's always been talk of a Reggae side project (in some ways inspired by H-Block 101 and their alter ego Jimmy Spliff and the Weedkillers). This "yet to be named" side project is now up and running and includes Rhys (Kampei) on guitar and Pommie Paul (Backy Skank) on Keys.

Their first gig at the Vic on the Park, Enmore, on Thursday 27 Sept and will include originals and some old reggae/rocksteady favourites. We should be onstage about 10pm. The normal Punk/Ska/Reggae mix of the Razors will be back in action for gigs later in the year.

Sun 9 Sep 07
Steppin' Razor are back in action! Luke has returned from the US, but Dave is still missing in Europe somewhere. So, we've decided to keep going as a 4 piece for now and will probably get another guitarist sometime in te future.

Our first gig back is with Area-7 at the Crest Hotel Sylvania Friday 14 September. All details on the Gigs page.

Mon 4 Jun 07

We're also playing on the Sunday night (4 Feb) at the Sando with The Jerks and Chaz H Scally. All details on the Gigs page.

Fri 7 Jan 05
It's Christmas again and time for the annual Backy Skank Christmas party. The Empire Hotel Sat 23 December the place and they are always a great night. The usual ska and raggae tunes plus some special skanked up and reggaeified christmas carols from Backy Skank.

A good mix from the alt-country/grassroots of Randall Blair, the Razors punk 'n' ska, rock 'n' roll faves of the Creepers and finishing the night off with the most danceable ska in the land from Backy Skank.

There's also DJ's between sets and giveaways courtesy of Gov'nor Clothing and Sound System records. All on a night where work is going to be a long way off for most of us.

Wed 11 Oct 06
Steppin Razor are playing at Club Blink on Saturday night, 14 October, with Front Your Enemy, The Colytons and The Convulsions(VIC). It's at the Agincourt Hotel Broadway on the corner of Harris St. Its a late start with the Razors on sometime after Midnight.

On the Monday of the October Long Weekend we are playing a Harbour Cruise for Cohen Brazen's Birthday. With a bit of luck we'll get to see the Brazen Hearts reform for this gig. More info soon.

Mon 21 Aug 06
We just got back from a very sleepless weekend in Brisbane and, as always, it was good time. This weekend is time for some old favourites and some firsts at the Empire Hotel. The line-up has been put together for MarkH's 40th Birthday; Backy Skank, Steppin' Razor, Randall Blair and the Wedded Bliss (ACT), The Signals, Kampei, Jed Temple.

This is the first gig for the Signals new lineup and Jed's first solo gig since the breakup of The Lyrical Madmen. The Wedded Bliss are an awesome Alt-Country band that shouldn't be missed (don't let the word country put you off). This is their first night at the Empire.

Wed 2 Aug 06
This week we hit the road again, heading south to Melbourne to play Punk Fest '06, with some of the best punk bands from around the country and international acts as well. It's an all ages Freeza gig. On 18th of Aug we are back in Brisbane for the Clash Bash and a Gold Coast All Ages on the 19th.

July and August are looking nice and busy for Steppin' Razor. The warehouse gig last night kicked it off, great to play an all ages again. Next Sunday night we will be in Corrimal for a FREE gig with Darkest Day, Rukus and Blood Red Flag. Check the Gigs page for details.

Over 14th-16th July Steppin' Razor, Chaz H Scally and Mispent Youth(Melb) all hit Brisbane for some shows. Really looking forward to catching up our friends in QLD again. Thanks to Toby Market and others that are helping organised these shows.

Wed 10 May 06
We're back into the swing of things now, played a couple of gigs with Tome, writing some more songs, and keen to get back into it. The warehouse party last Saturday was great fun, if only all gigs could come about so easily.

There's a few gigs planned and maybe the chance to have a gig Videoed for playing on Channel 31, Community TV. If that gets confirmed it might be a good chance for the U18's to get along and see us.

Thu 20 April 06
It's been a long break for Steppin' Razor, almost 4 months, but we are more than ready for a bit of action. Andy is back from his trip overseas and we now have a NEW DRUMMER in the lineup. Tome has been watching us play for the last 12 months and has fitted right into playing with the band.

So get along to our next gig so you can see and hear the "Tome Experience", it's gonna be great to be playing again. Saturday 29 April, Sandringham Hotel Newtown, The Baddies, Extra Limb, Steppin Razor, The Colytons.

Mon 2 Jan 06
December finished off a great first year for Steppin Razor, the Melbourne and Canberra shows were cool.

At late notice, we now have a show on Sunday at the Annandale Hotel (8 Jan probably a 6pm start). It will be our last show for a couple of months as Andy is holidaying overseas. The Lyrical Madmen are headlining the night, a great band who are in fine form at the moment. So there's a couple of good reasons to come along.

This show probably won't be in the Street Press as the original lineup fell through and The Lyrical Madmen took over the night. Hopefully, the Casino Rumblers are also playing, but this is still to be confirmed.

Hope to see you there and thanks for the support during 2005.

Tue 6 Dec 05
It's the festive season again, and time for the 7th Backy Skank Christmas Party. These are great gigs and this years lineup is going to make it one to remember. Regicide return to the stage to kick the night off, followed by Steppin' Razor, The Signals, Backy Skank and then The Lyrical Madmen. Backy Skank are sure to pull out some ska'd up and reggaeified christmas carols... will Santa make a return visit this year? Get along to the Empire on Sat 10 December

December also see's the Razors back in Melbourne and in Canberra for the first time. Melbourne shows are Thu 15th @ Tote, Fri 16th @ Megabar, Sat 17 Arvo All Ages @ Tote and Night @ Arthouse. The All Ages show is going to be our 50th gig and it's fitting that it's with H-Block as the Razors line-up came together at some H-Block shows late last year.

Just before Christmas we hit the Nation's Capital for a show with fellow Sydneysiders, The Lyrical Madmen, Final Warning and Los Capitanes.

Wed 26 Oct 05
Saturday is another episode in the PUNK ROCKtober shows to raise money for the Wollongong Hospital Childrens Ward. The show is at the Ribbonwood Centre on the Princes Highway Dapto, next door to McDonalds. It's an early show with the bands running between 7pm - 10pm.

Sunday night we are playing at the Sandringham Hotel, Newtown. A new venue for us, but we're playing with our old mates, Kampei. Another early show 7pm - 10pm.

Check the Gigs page for details.

Thu 13 Oct 05
The Razors hit Brisbane again this weekend for what are sure to be some great gigs. Stereo City are going to be with us and also few other Sydneysiders, so it's gonna be fun for us.

Friday night is the "PUNK & SKA STATE OF ORIGIN - ROUND II" at the Alliance Tavern, Spring Hill. Saturday night is the huge "CLASH BASH", Joe Strummer tribute night at the REV. Ten Bands playing, a 5pm start with a free BBQ thrown in.

Unfortunately, the Razors won't be able to play the Sunday All Ages show at Shed 5, Burleigh Heads, but The Black Market, Stereo City plus others will. So get along to that show as well, (especially if you can't get into the 18+ gigs).

Wed 5 Oct 05
It's been a quiet couple of weeks for the Razors, but that's going to change this weekend. The big news is that Sunday night (9 Oct) we will be supporting the Suicide Machines at the Annandale Hotel. We've been waiting years for these guys to come to Australia and now we're lucky enough to share the stage with them.

Saturday night we play a very different show, opening for the tibute band "Complete Madness" who come out of a 10 year hiatus for a this one off show. Saturday afternoon we play an All Ages show at the Wollongong Youth Centre. It's a fundraiser for the Kids Ward at W'Gong Hosptial. Check the Gigs page for details of all gigs.

Sat 17 Sep 05
Sat 17 Sep is The Disables Album launch and our launch for "These Pictures" EP. If Sydney is able to put on half as good a show as Brisbane did it's gonna be great. The Brisbane launches were probably the best gigs we've played and I hope there's a good turnout for Sydney (can't have the cane toads showing us up).

October is looking good for the Razors; A support spot for The Suicide Machines at the Annandale, some Wollongong gigs, and another trip to QLD for the "The Punk & Ska State of Origin Round II", a Joe Strummer tribute gig "The Clash Bash" and an all ages show.

Two tracks off our new EP are available on our myspace page http://myspace.com/steppinrazorband so have a listen. The lyrics to all our songs are now up on the site so check them out if you are interested.

Wed 7 Sep 05
THESE PICTURES is Finished!! Our second EP is all ready for the launch gigs in QLD this weekend and Sydney on next weekend (Sat 17 Sept @ The Empire). There are 6 tracks on the EP, one very ska song, one very reggae song and a couple of other punk/ska tracks. We are very happy with it and a big thanks to Ian @ Noisegate for the recording and mixing. Anyone wanting to get a copy of These Pictures can pick one up at Resist Records from tomorrow. Click on the pics for a larger view of front and back cover.

If you are in Brisbane, I probably don't have to remind you that it's The Disables Album Launch this Saturday night at the Orient Hotel. The Razors will be one of 18 bands playing. There's also an All Ages gig at Shed 5 on the Gold Coast, starting about 1pm on Saturday. Wollongong was great last week and I'm looking forward to the shows we are doing there in October.

Wed 31 Aug 05
There's a change to the gig on Thursday night at the Oxford in W'Gong. The Go Set can't make it and the lineup is now Steppin' Razor (opening and onstage at 9pm ), Chas H Scally and then The Brazen Hearts.

Our new EP is virtually finished and set for release when we play with The Disables 10 Sep in Brisbane and 17 Sep in Sydney. These gigs should be huge.

Tue 16 Aug 05
After last weekend in the studio, we are half way through recording our next EP and songs for the split with The Black Market. If all goes to plan our next shows will be the EP launches in Queensland and Sydney. We're lucky enough to be tagging along with The Disables, while they launch their Album 'Nuthin for No One", which is out next week.

In October we're supporting the Suicide Machines at the Annandale and also hope to get back to Wollongong for some more shows.

Mon 8 Aug 05
Thursday 11 Aug is a night for some first's at The Harp. It's first gig for The Brave, first gig for The Mob and first headlining gig for Kampei. Steppin' Razor should be in fine form after 5 gigs in Melbourne last weekend and we're also all set to record next weekend. It will be a good night, it's always good seeing a bands first gig. Razors are onstage 9:30 - 10:15.

A big thanks to Bosma an Brendan from Jackknife Music, the Arthouse and all the other bands we played with. The only problem was cold/rain/sleet/hail and half the band getting the flu. If Dave and Adam were to write a tour diary it would be about the graffiti on the bunkbeds at the Arthouse, 'cause they spent about two days straight there. Staggering downstairs to play on successive nights. The next Melbourne trip is going to be in Summer!

Tue 26 Jul 05
Last weekend in Brisbane was excellent, as always, and it'll be great to head back for more gigs in September. Saturday night we are playing at The Empire of Annandale along with The Suns, Bagster and Canadians, Crowned King. We are playing first and onstage at 9pm, so get there early if you want to see us. If you haven't seen The Suns, it's worth going along just for them. Onstage they are coolest guys I've seen for a long time.

Wed 20 Jul 05
Thanks to all the Brisvegans that were down last weekend for the State of Origin Gig, it was a good weekend. I'm glad Sydney could put on a great night for the invading cane toads... we'll have to do it again sometime.

Now it's the Razors turn to cross the border as we are going to be in QLD this weekend playing with The Porkers and Triple 07. Friday night at the Coolangatta Hotel and Saturday night at The Jubilee Hotel, Fortitude Valley. We open both nights, onstage at 8:30pm.

Wed 20 Jul 05
Web Page Updates - There's about 50 new photos from gigs that are now on the site to check them out. We also now have a links page that will be added to over time.

Tue 5 Jul 05
Time for a bit of interstate rivalry. The Punk & Ska State of Origin will have 3 Brisbane bands and 3 Sydney bands. The First 100 payers get a FREE CD with one track friom each of the bands playing.

The lineup is Backy Skank (NSW), Sydney City Trash (NSW), The Black Market (QLD), The Ordinarys (QLD), Steppin' Razor (NSW) and Toby Market (QLD).

If you don't know the Brisbane bands, have a listen to some of their tracks from the mp3 page.

Sun 19 Jun 05
A big thanks to Zombie Ghost Train for organising a great gig last Sat night. Steppin' Razor are playing this Sat night (25 June) at the Arncliffe Hotel with Anachoi and a heap of other punk bands. There's been some changes in the line-up so we wont be listed on the Street Press Ads, but we will be there. Early start for this one, about 7pm.

Fri 7 Jan 05
Back to one of our favourite venues on Friday 17 June... We'll be joining Ebolagoldfish, Blow Everything Tonight and Kampei. The following night sees us playing at Spectrum with Zombie Ghost Train and SC Trash for a weird psychobilly, punk, country and ska mix.

Wed 1 Jun 05
The third SkaBQ is on at the Harp this Saturday (4 June). It's an AFTERNOON and evening gig, running 2pm to Midnight. Steppin' Razor will be on at 4:30pm, so get there early if you want to see us.

There's plenty of good gigs coming up over the next couple months so check out the gigs page.

Mon 23 May 05
No updates to the page for a while, but there's a bit of action going on over the next month or so. First up is Friday night 27 May at the Harp Hotel, where we join The Bone Daddies (ZGT's rockabilly alter ego), Dead By Dawn, The Brazen Hearts, and Against All Odds. Sat 4 June we are back at the Harp for the "SKABQ" with the best of Sydney's Ska and The Ska Vendors, who are up from Melbourne. Check the Gigs page.

But what's got us fired up is a visit by some of the THE BLACK MARKET RECORDS CREW on 15-16 July. Three of the bands we saw in Brisbane are coming down for the "Punk and Ska State of Origin" at the Empire on Fri 15 July and will be doing another gig in W'Gong on 16 July. The bands are The Black Market, The Ordinarys and Toby Market and there's 5 tracks you can have a listen to on the mp3 page. These bands showed us a great time in Brisbane, so let's hope Sydney can put on a good weeekend for them.

Tue 26 Apr 05
The Brisbane punk scene Rules!!! We just had a great weekend away, met some great people, saw some great bands, had heaps of fun playing the gigs and sold out of CDs and badges. We're looking forward to getting back there soon.

Thanks to all the bands and people that made us feel so welcome. Special thanks to Jud Disable, Doug Cervix, Tracey and the 4ZZZ crew, Toby and the Blackmarket records crew.

Our next gig is a good mix of bands at the Arncliffe Hotel on Sat 7th May. Stereo City, The New Justice Team, The Brazen Hearts (W'Gong) and Steppin' Razor. We'll be kicking the night off so get there early, around 8pm.

mp3.com.au downloads... Our song Politics is sitting at #1 on the Ska chart! There's a few other tracks there as well so have a listen... http://mp3.com.au/steppin'razor

Mon 4 Apr 05
Thanks to everyone for coming along on Sat Night and a special thanks to all the bands for playing and making the night run smoothly. This weekend we'll be joining the best of Sydney's Ska at two gigs. Friday night at the Empire and then an all ages starting Midday on Saturday at Summer Hill. Check the Gigs page for details, these are going to be great shows

Wed 23 Mar 05
How good was the Harbour Cruise!!! We had the more fun playing this gig than any other we've done (except for Adam maybe, dealing with a drum kit sliding around the floor). We played a couple of new songs and a cover of The Last Hemeroids song Equality (which proved to be very popular).

It was good to catch up with some people I hadn't seen for a while and great to see some under 18's getting into it. The same lineup plus The Lyrical Madmen and the Casino Rumblers will be playing another all ages on 9 April. Check the Gigs Page.

Most important is our EP launch!!! that is set down for Sat 2 April at the Green Square Hotel (that's the EP cover on the left). A huge lineup of 5 bands for $8 The Optionals, Bagster, Steppin' Razor, The Gingers (Melb), Kampei. Our EPs good value as well at 6 Tracks for $5.

Sun 13 Mar 05
In the long standing tradition of bad ska puns, next Sunday is the "Sydney Skabour Cruise" (Flyer) . It'll be a great day with three ska bands that have their roots in different decades. The Signals with 60s & 70s Ska and Rocksteady, Backy Skank with that 80's two tone sound and The Razors with a 90's Rancid-esque Ska-Punk sound. Tickets are $15 available from from the bands, The Hive Motorscooters, Faster Pussycat, or on the day if there's any left. The boat leaves 3pm from Man o' War steps, which is just to the right of the Opera House.

The other good news is that our EP is all finished and just about ready to go. The launch will be at the Green Square Hotel on Sat 2 April and we'll be joined by some great bands who are sure to make it a night to remember.

We're also playing our first All Ages show during Youth Week at the Summer Hill Brewhaha Festival, which will have Area-7 headlining. Our Queensland tour for the Anzac Day Long weekend is looking great . We should be doing shows in Surfers Paradise, Brisbane and Toowoomba.

Sat 6 Mar 05
We've also been added to a great Punk Night in Wollongong on Sunday. It starts 6pm at Collegians, Charlotte St Wollongong, it's free and the other bands are Run For Cover, Darkest Day, Brazen Hearts, Against All Odds. The best Punk the gong's got to offer.

Wed 2 Mar 05
The Razors are late entrys to Saturday nights "Horns of the Baskerville" gig at The Empire of Annandale. Hosting this night of intrigue are The Casino Rumblers and joining us will be Waiting for Guiness and Bagster. There's an article in this weeks Drum about the Casino Rumblers, so check it out.

Thanks to everyone who came along to our gigs last week. Thursday night at the Harp was great. I can't wait to get to Brisbane next month and play some more gigs with The Disables.

Thu 24 Feb 05
We finished recording a 6 Track EP yesterday and we're pretty happy with the way it's turned out. Because of the gig tonight, we've got a special release of just 20 CDs ready, and it's only $5. So if you want to get it while it's very fresh, get along to the Harp Hotel tonight.

Sun 20 Feb 05
This week The Disables are in town to support Anti-Flag, but they are doing a headlining show on Thursday night at the Harp... and I'm sure looking forward to it.

If all goes to plan Steppin' Razor will have an EP/Demo ready for this night as well. Kempei are a band with some familiar faces and this will be their first gig (I'm listening to their demo atm and it's not bad at all). By now you should know that Stereo City are awesome, so there are some good reasons to get along Thursday.

Friday is the Razor's first Road Trip. We'll be playing at the Marlin Hotel in Ulladulla (about 3 hours south of Sydney).

Wed 9 Feb 05
There's a few good gigs coming up for the Razors. Brisbane's The Disables are one of the best punk bands in the country and are in Sydney to support Anti-Flag, but you'll be able to catch up close and personal at The Harp Hotel on Thursday 24th Feb.

We've got a harbour cruise next month with Backy Skank and the Signals... and April will see us at a "Back to the Green Square" gig. The home of the "Tartan Heart Ska Klub" and the birth place of many bands, it looks set to become another good venue in Sydney. Check the Gigs Page for details

Wed 26 Jan 05

Photos from the Arncliffe Hotel gig are now up on the Photos page. Thanks to Fez, Scott and Adam for these.

Sat 22 Jan 05
There are some mp3s from last weeks gig that you can download from the mp3 page. A ska song, reggae song and a punk song, so have a listen.

Sun 16 Jan 05
Thanks to those that came to Arncliffe last night. It was the first time I'd been there and it's a pretty good venue. Next gig for the Razors is a big night at the Empire on 29th Jan with a six band lineup. Should be good check the Gigs Page for details.

We've got an e-mail list for gigs and other news. If you want to subscribe goto the Email List Page

Sun 9 Jan 05
The website's up and running so have a look around, sign the guestbook. Next gig is Saturday 15 January at Arncliffe Hotel with Stereo City. The Razors are on at 8:00 sharp (yes, we really are on that early).
